One of the nice things for natives to hear from foreigners is the names of their country in their language. They are even more impressed when you can pronounce their cities correctly. There are only very few exceptions like e.g. der Israeli / die Israelin (not to be mistaken for der Israelit, as that was biblical folk. The name of the German nationality is quite special it behaves like an adjective. Take a look: der Deutsche / die Deutsche / die Deutschen (plural) BUTein Deutscher / eine Deutsche / Deutsche (plural) Luckily it seems to be the only one behaving like this.  Almost all names of languages end in -(i)sch in German. In general every country in neuter (e.g. das Deutschland) but that das is almost never used. An exception would be if you spoke of a country at a specific time: Das Deutschland der Achtziger Jahre. Other than that you wouldnt use the das which is actually the same way youd use a countrys name in English.   Those who use a different article than das always (!) use their article. Luckily those are only a few. He was at the forefront on India’s quest for freedom from Britain during the mid 1900’s. Aung San Suu Kyi sacrificed much of her personal freedom during her life for political equality in Burma. She has been held under house arrest for the better part of the past twenty years. Several times during her house arrest she has been allowed freedom, but was not allowed to travel to the United Kingdom due to threats of being banished from her homeland. During his life, Gandhi lived in a self-sufficient residential community, wove his own clothes, and even ate simple vegetarian food. Much like Gandhi, King and Aung were willing to sacrifice all they had for the betterment of their goal. There are few events throughout history where Gandhi, King, and Aung all participated in, whether it was during their lives or posthumously. Question: Discuss about the Implementing Reading Strategies based on Collaborative Learning Approach. Answer: I teach Business courses to bachelor students. The courses, which I deal with, are management and leadership, statistics for managers and international human resources. English is the medium that I use for teaching, most students have English as their second language, and they are not experienced students. That is why I use innovative methods to teach and I adopt different strategies to convey my message clearly to the students in my class. Design and plan learning activities (A1): I emphasize on three major activities related to learning while I teach them. These are active learning, collaborative learning with case studies and learning based on inquiry. These activities keep the student engaged and many researchers are proving that these methods help to improve the learning process of students. Collaborative learning with case studies: Collaborative learning has various advantages. Students are prone to forming groups and they work better when they work together. It is the case with learning as well. Students in groups tend to understand things more easily and they find out solutions mutually. They even show their innovative minds when they are given a task of creating a product. At the same time, they learn to work in team and adopt leadership quality in the meantime. Sharing of ideas, enhancement of knowledge, and finding out interesting solutions are only possible in collaborative learning (Suwantharathip 2015). The five stages in guiding for collaborative learning are as follows: 1. Engagement 2. Exploration 3. Transformation 4. Presentation 5. Reflection The students are given a collaborative task in the engagement phase. During this phase, they engage with each other and do some group exercise. The next stage requires the students to explore some concepts, facts and information. They are given some input, which makes it easier for them to have a basic preliminary understanding of the task. The third stage, i.e. the transformation stage requires the students to identify, arrange and synthesize the learning principles and reshape the information they have gathered. In the fourth stage, i.e. the presentation stage the students are required to present their discovery. These are presented before the class at large who give valuable ideas and suggestions. Some students also take a critical approach and emphasize on the diverse parts of the plan. The final stage, i.e. reflection stage requires examination of the findings by the students. At this stage they are able to point out the strong points as well as the weak points. This has proved to be an effective method of learning for the students. The assembly of the experienced and inexperienced students helps them to share knowledge between each other. The best part is that they learn something from each other and they get to understand how to work in a team. This mentality can be only imbibed among the students when they are allowed to work together. At the end of each class, I take feedback from the students. They often come out with innovative proposals and they give positive feedbacks regarding group exercises. They find it interesting to engage with the each other and they are of the view that this method helps them to increase their knowledge. Through this method, they inculcate some values as well. They tend to behave more responsibly and with great accountability. Collaborative learning is overall a productive method of learning for the students (Suwantharathip 2015). Active learning: The active learning method involves the students actively. The students show their presence of mind and their capabilities to handle tough situations. I often involve them in healthy debates and discussions and while delivering lectures I give practical examples, which they find very interesting. I provide them with the notes beforehand so that they can come to the class after going through the materials. In business course students need to participate with an open mind and come out with innovative ideas and solutions, I often give them puzzles and these keep them engaged. This method has proved to be a very effective method of learning for the students. The active learning method helps the students to overcome their hesitation. I keep the students engaged in solving puzzle and often ask them to apply some business strategies and formulas to real world situation. In this way, they are able to improve their further understanding of the subject and they come prepared in the class ready to face any challenges. After each class, I ask them to add some ideas into this method of learning. They give me positive feedbacks and some of them have agreed that they not only learn a lot through this method but they are also able to enhance their personality and decision making abilities. (Roehl et al. 2013). Teach and/or support learning (A2): The learning process involves the students and the teacher equally. The students learning is facilitated by the learning methods, which I adopt. In active learning method, I make them comfortable and encourage them to involve in debates and discussions. Teaching Activity 1 / Case study: Giving case study to students is one of the most effective methods to impart learning amongst the students. It is an inquiry based learning in which the students are required to inquire into the facts and information of a given problem, analyze it carefully, applying minds efficiently and come out with effective solutions of the problem. The students investigate actively, generate hypothesis and tally the gathered evidence. This particular design make the students think practically and adopt a confidence within themselves. The students find the real world problems more exciting and they deal with them rationally. Through these techniques, the students are able to learn a lot, which not only help them at the present but lead them towards a responsible future as well. The case study method has been very effective in enhancing the knowledge and personality development of the students (McDermott and Dovey 2013). Teaching Activity 2 / Think- Pair Share: The think-pair-share activity requires students to form themselves in a group of two or more and then proceed towards a problem-based solution. This activity imbibes in the students a sense of we feeling and eventually helps them to understand each other better. They are better able to know each other better, develop an understanding and gradually learn how to work in a team. Team working is essential in any organization. In this activity, the students mutually understand a task and divide their responsibility between themselves. The students in the meantime also learn how to manage time and how to work smartly and intelligently. Often the students are paired as such so that every group has a mixture of more experienced as well as less experienced students. This technique helps to enhance the knowledge of the students to a great level. The students have reacted positively to this technique and they readily welcome any such activity whenever they are provided with one (Kothiyal et al. 2013). Professional Development: I am new to this faculty and I have actively participated in the Teaching Skills Enhancement Program (TSEP) which was held few days back. The program was related to professional development and had enhanced my teaching abilities. I learned a lot from the program and I have grabbed all the important skills of teaching. Teaching is not an easy profession. In a class of students, all are different and have different intelligence level. They are equipped with different abilities and perceptions. It is important for a teacher to find out the techniques, which would best serve the interest of the students. I learnt from the program how to handle students efficiently and how to deal with them in a comfortable manner. A valuable session of the program dealt with how to start a discussion. I got to know how to get the students involved in a discussion or a team activity. The students inculcate a lot of values and ethos from their teachers. Teachers play a key role in the lives of the students. The teachers, in a way, shape the career and future of a student and provide them with helpful guidelines, which build up their personality. Classroom management, ways of starting a debate, teaching styles and approaches all have been dealt with in details in the program. Imparting leadership qualities in the students is important and I have been trained through the program how to do so. Leaders are not born but are made and the making of a leader starts with classroom discussion and debates. The teachers have a key role to play in making the future leaders of a nation. Though leadership quality comes through experiences and time but the process of imbibing this quality among the students starts from a classroom. The Great Gatsby Quotes and Analysis The following quotes from  The Great Gatsby  by F. Scott Fitzgerald are some of the most recognizable lines in American literature. The novel, which follows the pursuit of pleasure by the wealthy elites of the New York Jazz Age, deals with themes of love, idealism, nostalgia, and illusion. In the quotes that follow, well analyze how Fitzgerald conveys these themes. â€Å"I hope shell be a fool – thats the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.†Ã‚  (Chapter 1) Daisy Buchanan is talking about her young daughter when she makes this seemingly-unfeeling statement. In reality, this quote demonstrates a rare moment of sensitivity and self-awareness for Daisy. Her words show a deep understanding of the world around her, particularly the idea that society rewards women for being foolish rather than smart and ambitious. This statement adds greater depth to Daisys character, suggesting that perhaps her lifestyle is an active choice rather than the result of a frivolous mindset. â€Å"It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced – or seemed to face – the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.†Ã‚  (Chapter 3) The novel’s narrator, young salesman Nick Carraway, describes Jay Gatsby thusly when he first encounters the man in person. In this description, focused on Gatsby’s particular manner of smiling, he captures Gatsby’s easy, assured, almost magnetic charisma. A huge part of Gatsby’s appeal is his ability to make anyone feel like the most important person in the room. This quality mirrors Nick’s own early perceptions of Gatsby: feeling unusually lucky to be his friend, when so many others never even meet him in person. However, this passage also  foreshadows  Gatsby’s showmanship and ability to put on whatever mask someone wants to see. In his blue gardens men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars. (Chapter 3) Although  The Great Gatsby  is often held up as a celebration of Jazz Age culture, it’s actually the opposite, often  critiquing the era’s  carefree hedonism. Fitzgerald’s language here captures the beautiful but impermanent nature of the wealthy’s lifestyle. Like moths, they’re always attracted to whatever the brightest light happens to be, flitting away when something else grabs their attention. Stars, champagne, and whisperings are all romantic but temporary and, ultimately, useless. Everything about their lives is very beautiful and full of sparkle and shine, but disappears when the harsh light of day- or reality- appears.   Ã¢â‚¬Å"No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart.† (Chapter 5) As Nick reflects on Gatsby’s opinion of Daisy, he realizes how much Gatsby has built her up in his mind, so much so that no real person could ever live up to the fantasy. After meeting and being separated from Daisy, Gatsby spent years idealizing and romanticizing his memory of her, turning her into more illusion than woman. By the time they meet again, Daisy has grown and changed; she is a real and flawed human who could never measure up to Gatsby’s image of her. Gatsby continues to love Daisy, but whether he loves the real Daisy or simply the fantasy he believes her to be remains unclear. â€Å"Can’t repeat the past?†¦Why of course you can!†Ã‚  (Chapter 6) If there’s one statement that sums up Gatsby’s entire philosophy, this is it. Throughout his adult life, Gatsby’s goal has been to recapture the past. Specifically, he longs to recapture the past romance he had with Daisy. Nick, the realist, tries to point out that recapturing the past is impossible, but Gatsby utterly rejects that idea. Instead, he believes that money is the key to happiness, reasoning that if you have enough money, you can make even the wildest dreams come true. We see this belief in action with Gatsbys wild parties, thrown just to attract Daisy’s attention, and his insistence on rekindling his affair with her. Notably, however, Gatsbys entire identity stemmed from his initial attempt to escape his poor background, which is what motivated him to create the persona of Jay Gatsby. â€Å"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.†Ã‚  (Chapter 9) This sentence is the final line of the novel, and one of the most famous lines in all of literature. By this point, Nick, the narrator, has become disillusioned with Gatsbys hedonistic displays of wealth. He has seen how Gatsby’s fruitless, desperate quest- to escape his past identity and recapture his past romance with Daisy- destroyed him. Ultimately, no amount of money or time was enough to win Daisy, and none of the novels characters were able to escape the limitations imposed by their own pasts. This final statement serves as a commentary on the very concept of  the American dream, which claims that anyone can be anything, if only they work hard enough. With this sentence, the novel seems to suggest that such hard work will prove futile, because the â€Å"currents† of nature or society will always push one back towards the past.

The specific words bloggers use relate to which of the big five personality factors dominates in that person. These factors are: openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. For the highly neurotic, the most commonly used words were: awful, though, lazy, worse and depressing; while with wild-child extroverts, bar, other, drinks, restaurant and dancing kept cropping up. Agreeable people happily repeated wonderful, together, visiting, morning and spring, while the conscientious made sure to reiterate completed, adventure, stupid, boring and adventures. For open types, folk, humans, of, poet and art appeared most often. The research project run by Tal Yarkoni, a psychology and neuroscience postdoctoral fellow at the University of Colorado at Boulder is one of the largest conducted examining the connection between writing and personality. Thanks to bloggers typically prodigious outpourings, Yarkoni had around 115,000 words from each of the 700 or so participants. This larger-than-usual sample meant that the research could go beyond broad topics focused on, and look at particular words that recur. The results suggest we cant completely separate our online and offline selves, however much you might want to maintain a particular facade of yourself. And this is hardly surprising, says Yarkoni: Our personalities dont dramatically change just because weve turned on our computers. Still, at the very least, its probably best to try to keep work and business blogging separate, no matter how lazy, awful and depressing you may find your boss.

Keller examines an internal influence that effects education, students' perception of mathematics as a male domain. With support of other research she provides, in short, the students' beliefs and their performance are correlated. Meaning that when comparing graphs of student beliefs on gender success in mathematics and actual success, the graphs follow a similar pattern. Through personal experience, I have found this to be true. Students that have positive views about a particular subject tend to be more interested, thus performing better. This also works on the other end of the spectrum. Negative views deem less effort, which produces results below possible accomplishment. The student is not all at fault for these beliefs; they are influence by an outside source in some way. Whether this outside influence is a fellow student, parents, siblings or teachers I feel I still need some more proof. Keller is tryi... ...nces that she did not control. Carmen Keller's article was very informative. Some of the data may have been slightly complicated for an average consumer, not educated in statistics. I have always questioned why I have found more males in my math classes throughout my education and while researching my possible mathematical careers. They own a lot of land, mostly wooded area with an old wooden corncrib and a small pond. I’ve traveled in these woods and played in the corncrib as a kid numerous times. I would go with my cousins, sibling and sometimes my grandmother. She would teach us about the different bugs, trees, rocks, and animals we encountered along the way. Going back in the woods, I was overcome with a feeling of nostalgia. I remember the times we would get rides in my grandpa’s gator, try to climb the trees, chase after the grasshoppers or even just walk around and find new things. We used to have so much fun. Walking through the woods alone made me miss all the fun times I had as a child. As I child I was carefree, I knew who my friends were and I had no worries about trust and my relationships with others. Growing up, especially in high school I’ve began to question my friends, I have a whole lot more stress and things are definitely not as simple as they once used to be. The woods were the same woods they used to be, the corncrib is exactly how we left it. Not much has changed, but the person walking through them definitely has. I can’t even remember the last time I walked through the woods, but I know one thing for sure that I have grown up and matured so much since then. While walking through the forest I began to think of all the ways I have changed and I realized a few things. My outlook on life was completely changed when my kind hearted grandmother passed away when I was just a child. I was struck with the realization that life can be taken away in an instant and I need to cherish every moment I have left I this world. In early November of 2006, I was sitting in my choir class listening to my teacher describe the scene a horrific car accident she witnessed the day before. As she was explaining the details of the accident, I was feeling little pangs of sorrow for the victims who were unable to walk away injury free. As we carried on with our class, I couldn’t help but think about how miserable their family and friends must be feeling at that exact moment, they didn’t even see it coming. I soon shook the thoughts from my head and made my way to my next class. While walking down the hallway, I feel my newly purchased flip phone vibrate in my purse and the text I receive from my mother was rather unsettling: Honey, I have some bad news. Â  I reply back asking her what she was talking about, and although I was a little nervous, I didn’t try to dwell on it too much. I only assumed that she wasn’t going to buy me a new pair of Buckle jeans that I was eyeing at the time, so I swallowed my disappointment, and carried on with my morning. Thoughts of not owning those beautiful pair jean were going through my head as my phone vibrates with another text that made me stop dead in my tracks: Grandma was in an accident today. She’s in the hospital with severe injuries and they think she has brain damage. A wave of emotions washed over me and my mind couldn’t stop racing. I always heard about this sort of thing happening to people I didn’t know, people I didn’t care about. Never in a million years did I imagine that my own grandmother would be put in this situation. For once in my life, I was completely speechless. Over the next couple weeks, my grandma’s progress was a roller coaster. Some days she was barely able to open her eyes and move her fingers, and other days she was motionless. One day the swelling in her brain would worsen and the next day it would decrease. There weren’t any clear answers explaining if she was going to be okay or not. We were all holding on dearly to a sense of hope that was keeping us together. Towards the last couple days of her life, my grandma’s progress seemed to have gotten better. The swelling in her brain had decreased a great amount and I was told that it was very possible that she would be able to recover. A wave of a relief washed over me and the grasp I had on hope tightened. I truly believed that she would recover and we would have our caring, loving grandma with us again. The thoughts of her recovery were clogging my mind and I completely forgot that even though there was indeed the possibility of her recovery, the possibility of her death was still apparent. On November 28th, I was woken up by my mother and father informing me that my grandma had passed away that morning. Initially, I didn’t feel any sort of emotion. I was stuck in a daze that I couldn’t get out of. Part of me even believed that this was all a dream, and that I was going to wake up with her smiling face still in this world. Throughout the day, the numb feeling went away, and was replaced with sadness and sorrow. I replayed every memory I had with her in my head while hot, salty tears ran down my cheeks. In that moment, I would have given anything to have her alive and well, baking Christmas cookies with me like we did every year. She didn’t deserve to die and we didn’t deserve to feel this pain. Deep down I knew she was in a better place, a place where she wouldn’t have to feel the pain she felt in this world before she passed. This thought alone helped me and many others get over the fact that we lost our dear grandma. They always say that you need to live your life the fullest; you never know when your time is up. My grandma was the perfect example of a barely 60 year old woman who’s last years of her life were cut short. She made sure that she lived every day to its full potential, and she cherished every moment. Ever since the morning that she died, I made a promise to myself to never let a day go by where I don’t appreciate and love the life I live. Although life is difficult, it is still so very beautiful.

Organizational culture is defined as â€Å"the system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that develops within an organization and guides the behavior of its members. In the business setting, this system is often referred to as the corporate culture. Just as no two individual personalities are the same, no two organizational cultures are identical.† (Schermerhorn, Hunt, Osborn, 2003, p. 2) Communication within the organizational behavior helps with many aspects of an organization. First, open-communication allows employees to feel respected and valued because they can walk into their manager’s office and discuss any thoughts he or she may be have. Second, communication ensures that all problems are dealt with and not over-looked. The third benefit to communication is that new ideas can be generated from anyone who wishes to help out the organization.

I. Research A. Military 1. Military research was one of the earlier researches it was financed by the U. S department of defense, seeking new technology and more creative leaders in the wake of World War II (Roark). 2. Since the time of the ancient Greeks there has been many suppositions as to why some individuals are remarkably creative, one of these speculations were that it was a gift from the gods. II.Positive Aspects of Creative People A. Working till the end. 1. Creative persons are usually totally into their work until the end. 2. A creative person can usually see a project until the end. (Glover) 3. Creative people can usually dismiss any other stuff until their work is complete. (Glover) B. Taking Control 1. Creative people tend to be more comfortable with takin g care of tasks when there are no clear explanations for instructions. (Glover) 2. Creative persons tend to feel that they can control what happens to them in life. (Glover) 3. Creative people in general, like to take risks. (Glover) III. Negative Aspects of Creative PeopleA. Mental disorders 1. Psychiatrists have noticed that among distinguished artists, manic and major depression is ten to thirty percent as common. (â€Å"Mad Genius†) 2. Many artists have been diagnosed with different types of depression. 3. According to Arnold Ludwig from the University of Kentucky Medical center, fifty nine to seventy percent of the 1004 artists, writers, and musicians suffered from mental illness. (Scholten) 4. Many creative people suffer from Bipolar as well. (Scholten) B. Moods 1. Psychiatrists have noticed that among distinguished artists, manic and major depression is ten to thirty percent as common. â€Å"Mad Genius†) 2. More people with mood swings and mental disabilities ha ve been found in the arts. (Roarke) 3. Dr. Andreason found that eighty percent of writers were depressed at some point in their lives. (Roarke) There are many different types of people in this world, one of them are creative people. Creative people have been around forever and are the people that have made this world evolve. The purpose of this paper is to define the research and the positive and negative effects on creative persons. The level of creativity on certain individuals has been a mystery to many scientists, for example why was it that while Leonardo Da Vinci could paint the Mona Lisa other normal individuals were barely able to draw stick figures, or why was it that Albert Einstein revolutionized the world of physics while other didn’t even know how to use car radios.There have been many speculations made of why some human beings are remarkably creative. Since the time of the ancient Greeks there has been many suppositions as to why some individuals are remarkably creative, one of these speculations were that it was a gift from the gods. Some modern thinkers believe that it was just a combination of lucky genes, coincidence. Creative people may have certain inherited talents or biologically controlled predilections a painter, for example, might have peculiar sensitivity to the light; a musician, an unusual awareness of sound; a dancer, a certain physical size or muscle mass (Roark).Creative people have always needed to be an essential part in our society back in the day and even today. We can always improve and come out with new technologies and ideas and the people that come out with these products are the entreprene urs who are generally for the most part creative thinking people. Now that we have seen how creative studies in the past were made and how creative people have been linked back for millions of years I will talk about the positive aspect of creative people.Creative people for the most part, are very concentrated thinking people. They set their mind to something and they do not stop until it is complete. In the book â€Å"A Creative Person Tends to Be This Way† John Glover states that creative people can usually see a project through the end and can put aside anything that will distract them from getting their goal done. Another very good aspect of the creative thinker is that they can very easily take control of situations.In his book, John Glover states that creative thinker tends to be more comfortable in an environment where the directions are not clear. He can think for himself and come up with an alternative even though the steps on how to get those alternatives or soluti ons may not be clear. As well, Glover states that the creative thinker can usually feel that they are in control of their lives. They feel as if they can control what will happen in their lives in the future. The last very good aspect of the creative thinker is that he is a risk taker.Glover states that most creative thinkers have a risk taking attitude. In life to get to a great goal, we must take risks. If there is no risk there is no reward. That is why we see all these entrepreneurs like Bill Gates the developer of Microsoft and Steve Jobs the developer of Apple for example. They had to take a huge risk in putting their time and money into a project as big as the ones they have. So the creative person is generally more of a risk taker that the average person.Now that we have spoken about the positive aspects of creativity, let’s talk about the negative aspects of creativity and how having a creative mind has affected many people around the world and can be affecting you e ven. When we usually think of the word â€Å"creative† we usually think of it as a positive word, a good thing for society. But what people don’t know is that behind many creative thinking people a lot of problems occur. Such problems include mood swings, bipolar problems and several types of depression such as major and manic depression.Let’s talk about the depression and how it affects the creative person. Psychiatrists have noticed that among certain artists, mood swings and mental disorders are very common.Now that I have discussed the negative effects of the creative thinker in general, I would like to explain further the different types of depressions that I mentioned so that people may have a better understanding of what these depression and mood swings they get are. First let’s talk about manic depression and what it is. Manic depression varies when people are at the very peak of a mood which would be the manic stage and the very low point of a mood which would be the depression. This is one of the most common types of depressions in the creative persons.This type of depression is also known as bipolarity. This disorder may be linked genetically which back to what I discussed in how the creative mind came about saying that creative thinkers usually have had someone in their bloodline that also was a creative thinker may have also had manic depression or bipolarity. Major depression is very different than manic depression. Major depression is also much known as clinical depression and requires monitoring and medication. This type of depression is basically a more up scaled more dangerous type of depression compared to the manic depression.Many artists, writers, poets, and creative people in general have had to go through this type of depression. Most people that get this type of depression just feel very sad all the time and cannot really enjoy life nor can enjoy the things that perhaps at one point in their lives made them feel very happy. So now to conclude, I hope that I have explained well how the roots of creativity was formed and how the early uses of creativity was formed and how the early uses of creative minds were put into play in the world. I also hope you understand the positive and negative effects that creativity has on the creative mind.Also, to further understand, I explained the different types of depression that many creative thinkers have experienced at some point in their lives. Being a creative person has benefited very much to society and will continue to benefit society to come up and develop new technologies and products. But although the creative thinker has been traced back to the beginning of time we must also remember the negative effects that has come over the years with the creative thinker.
